No89 – 2022
PORT OF LIVERPOOL
ANNUAL ACROSS MERSEY SWIM
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual Across Mersey Swim is scheduled to take place between 11.15 and 12.45 on Saturday, 24 September 2022.
The intended track is from the South Ferry Basin (the Cockle Inlet) on the east bank of the River to Monks Ferry Slipway on the west bank of the River.
The organisers have indicated that there will be seventeen pods of swimmers, with each pod being accompanied by a safety boat (all of which are required to maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch. 12). Merseyside Fire & Rescue’s craft Marine Fire 1 and the New Brighton Lifeboat will also be in attendance.
The designated marshal’s craft is the Mrs J. II and, if necessary, contact should be established with this craft on VHF Ch. 12 in the first instance.
Whilst the organisers of this swim have been instructed to keep the swimmers clear of vessels navigating in the fairways of the River, Mariners are advised to navigate with care and caution, and to maintain a proper lookout at all times.
