Notice Of Race (NoR)
Welcome…
On behalf of Liverpool Yacht Club Flag Officers, committees and members, I am delighted to welcome you to the IRC Championships Regatta in May 2026, on the River Mersey. Liverpool Yacht Club was founded in 1988, and this year we shall be celebrating 38 years of keelboat and yacht racing on the Mersey. Hosting the first GBR IRC NW Championships event is both an honour and our pleasure. It will run from Friday 29th to 31st May 2026, and we are pleased to be able to offer racing for both the IRC classes and YTC cruiser white sails fleets. The 3-day regatta is open to all competitors; those who wish to endure the highest adrenaline rushes that come with yacht racing and those that prefer a more relaxed, yet competitive approach. We will work hard to provide all yachts and keel boats with the highest quality event and race management experience throughout, based in one of the country’s most historical and busiest ports.
To run a regatta of this scale takes a lot of planning and cooperation from many parties. I would like to thank in advance the members of Liverpool Yacht Club and our sponsors Bluepoint Marine and North Sails, for making the event possible. In addition, we will be working closely with The Port of Liverpool, Liverpool Marina and The Anchor to deliver this regatta, so thank you all for your support and willingness to engage in putting together this celebration of sailing on the Mersey.
Being a city that prides itself on food, culture and music, Liverpool Yacht Club’s Regatta would not be complete without providing you with a fantastic shoreside experience. As well as being on the doorstep of the most vibrant city in the UK, we are planning some fabulous entertainment and socials each day in conjunction with The Anchor at Liverpool Marina.
I look forward to seeing you next May for an event that will prove to be very special.
