Liverpool Sailing Club

Talk - Friday 2nd March 2018

A Maritime Passage starting on the Mersey - An evening talk by ROD PACE

“The passage starts on the Pierhead as a three year old, and then learning how to sail at LSC as a boy of 10, which leads to a lifetime of maritime adventure.”

Rod has had a lifetime at sea, and is the recently retired Operations Manager of Moelfre Lifeboat, having previously served as Coxswain of the All-Weather Lifeboat, and before that their Senior ILB Helmsman.

This promises to be a fascinating evening. Both as a social occasion for all and for the convenience of those travelling from a distance we will be providing a meal before the talk.

The meal cost £10 and the meal starts at 18:30 for the talk at 19:30

Hoylake Sailing Club

2017 marks the 130th anniversary of Hoylake Sailing Club, and it is hoped that all 14 of their beloved Opera class will be seen on the Meols shoreline this season. A busy Sailing Programme just touches into October, with the highlight being our Regatta on 24 June. A lot of their sailing involves liaison with other clubs, such as visits to various Regattas, a joint Commodore's Cruise to the West Hoyle Bank (4 June) and the attendance of the Menai Strait Regatta fortnight (July/August), not to mention team races and HSC's usual participation in the WLYC 24 Hour Race in September. Their Friday evening dinghy sailing on the Marine Lake commenced in May, including a special RYA Push The Boat Out session, and will continue (subject to holidays and the weather as always) until the evenings draw in come the Autumn. The Clubhouse is open at some time at least 5 days of the week, so why not pay us a visit for a drink or a sail!
